A free one‐day science event for girls in Years 7-9 (or equiv.) in secondary school (11-14 yrs) with exciting hands‐on workshops and activities
The activities are run by volunteer role models in STEM fields.
The event aims to build confidence in girls with an interest in science and fuel a passion for continuing to pursue STEM subjects at a higher level. The day provides an exciting opportunity for girls to meet likeminded individuals from other schools and we encourage all girls to work new people at the event to get the most out of the day.
You can get to know some of the people who are helping with Marie Curious by watching them answer a few questions here.
It's a full-on day! After a quick introduction, we're straight into 45-minute, hands-on workshops all about science, technology, engineering or maths. Everyone will get to try three workshops over the course of the day, and each workshop will have 12-15 girls at a time. The workshops are run by passionate role-models from a variety of fields.
Ever wanted to quiz a scientist? Here's your chance! We'll have a Q&A with leading scientists from all stages in their careers, ready to answer your questions! Then there will be a chance to pick which scientist you want to talk to some more, and have a real chat with them.
To round everything off, the day will finish with an interactive science show!
The next event will be in 2022. Booking details, when available, will appear below:
