Chemistry as we know it has its roots in Oxford, where the work of Hooke and Boyle marked a fundamental turning point in the study of the chemical sciences in the seventeenth century. The subject has continued to be shaped by their successors here in Oxford in the years since - by all those who have studied or worked in the Department.

Philanthropy has played a significant role in the development of the Department of Chemistry, supporting students, catalysing trailblazing research, and enabling the building of cutting-edge laboratories. Supporting Oxford Chemistry will allow us to do more, more quickly, and gifts of every size help our students and researchers undertake remarkable work. Beyond financial support, there are many ways to engage with the Department; for example as part of our alumni network, by mentoring students or by offering internships. Thank you for supporting the Department of Chemistry.
