Fellowships at Oxford Chemistry
We provide a vibrant, multidisciplinary research environment equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and access to world-class infrastructure and expertise across the wider Oxford area. Our fellows benefit from comprehensive training, professional development opportunities, a structured mentoring program, and dedicated career support.
Early Career Fellowships are designed to support researchers in the early stages of their academic careers who have already demonstrated strong research potential. These fellowships offer full academic independence without the usual teaching or administrative responsibilities, allowing fellows to focus entirely on advancing their research. This dedicated time enables them to secure additional funding, collaborate with leading experts, attend conferences, and establish a strong international reputation.
Our dedicated team of in-house research facilitators provides comprehensive support for fellowship applications at all career stages, from postdoctoral researchers to established academics. We actively promote and facilitate collaboration within the department, across the university, and with external institutions, including other universities, research institutes, and industry partners.
The Department of Chemistry is deeply committed to equality, diversity, and fostering an inclusive research environment. We support flexible working policies and actively encourage fellowship applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups in chemistry. Many of the fellowship schemes we support can be held part-time to accommodate personal circumstances such as caring responsibilities or chronic health conditions.
We welcome applications from those returning from a career break or transitioning from roles outside academia. If you would like to discuss your individual circumstances or have any accessibility or accommodation requirements for the application or internal selection process, please contact our fellowship team at research-facilitator@chem.ox.ac.uk.
