Oxford’s Department of Chemistry is one of the world’s largest and most successful and we are proud to be part of the larger University of Oxford and all that brings in terms of interdisciplinarity, infrastructure, heritage and global reach. Discoveries made at Oxford Chemistry have shaped the modern world and the way we live, including Nobel Prize-winning research on chemical reaction rates, radioactivity, organic synthesis, the structure of penicillin and the development of lithium-ion batteries. Our work has a real impact on many of the world's most significant challenges, including climate change, the provision of clean energy, food security and public health, and we aim to educate the next generation of the brightest and best scientists from around the globe. Our diverse and dynamic community is made up of over 1600 people and comprises academics and researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and highly-skilled technical and professional staff.
